Refined Carrara statuary marble bust, with a base also sculpted in turned marble. The sculpture depicts the bust of the goddess Diana the Huntress, also known in this iconography as Diana of Poitiers. The goddess is represented in half bust, with her breasts and a light, one-shoulder peplos that leaves her arm free for archery. Her candid and serious face is seen in profile, while her hair is gathered in a braided ponytail. The goddess features two small horns on her head, symbols of her sacred animal, the deer, which also represent her connection to hunting and game. It is a sculpture of great quality and refinement, capable of giving a touch of class and antiquity to any environment. Italian manufacture from the first half of the 19th century.
