PAINTING OF AN ODALISQUE, SECOND HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY
Author : Scuola Francese
Period: Second half of the 19th century
Price: € 2.800
Measures H x L x P
Refined oil painting on canvas, framed in a carved and gilded wooden frame. The painting depicts an odalisque, a term that indicated a servant and concubine in the harems of the Ottoman Empire. In the background, a palace with columns and Oriental architecture can be glimpsed, while in the center is the odalisque, depicted semi-nude with a small veil covering her hips. The woman wears a golden crown, large earrings, and a stone necklace. She is depicted dancing, barefoot on a carpet, holding a light veil used during the dance. The frame, very distinctive, features carvings with fanciful Arabic letters. This is a painting of great taste and refinement, capable of adding a touch of class to any environment. French manufacture from the second half of the 19th century. Measurements: Overall H x W x D 84 x 71.5 x 5cm; Painting only H x W 60 x 47cm
